Eldar is assembling a senior technical team to solve problems that sit at the frontier of geothermal engineering, from first principles through field validation, and to share in the value they create.
What the work is
This is field engineering at conditions where standard practice runs out. The problems are not theoretical: which barrier concept will actually open on demand, how cement performs through heat-up, how a valve behaves after its hundredth cycle in aggressive steam.
Engineers here carry decisions from design through field validation and see the results tested in the ground. That is the appeal, and it is also the standard: we look for people who have carried responsibility for systems and equipment that had to work.

Reservoir engineering
Reservoir behaviour, well performance, stimulation and the modelling that connects them.
Drilling and wells
Well construction, drilling performance, completions and long-term well integrity.
Surface systems
Pressure and flow control, flow assurance, materials selection and plant protection.

Permitting, cost and schedule, procurement, and getting projects to execution.

Experienced technical specialists, Iceland
We are building the core technical team in Iceland. The first phase is preparing and executing the pilot well.
These are key roles, with technical responsibility for their respective areas and leadership of multidisciplinary work with experienced Icelandic and international consultants. Each role will be tailored to the successful candidate's experience and strengths. We offer competitive salaries and equity participation in the company.
What we look for
- Strong technical expertise and a relevant university degree
- Extensive experience in geothermal or the oil and gas industry
- A proven ability to solve complex technical problems
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams of specialists
- Initiative, the ability to work independently, and a practical approach to problem-solving
- Excellent written and spoken English
Experience of superhot projects such as IDDP is an advantage, not a requirement.
